You all know I’m all about the convenience. You also know that I like to eat, so when I can combine the two, winning! I’ve seen the overnight oats trend all over the internet lately, so obviously I gave it a shot. A few months back I showed you guys over on my Instagram stories how I make my overnight oats. Then my favourite little Russian asked if I’d do a post as she was keen to try it. I present to you, Apple Pie Overnight Oats.
Breakfast is my FAVOURITE meal of the day, like fave fave fave. So I like to make sure whatever I am eating is not only nutritious, but it must taste amazing. If you’re trying to stray away from junk food, it’s always a good idea to be able to make your healthy food taste amazing, and one of the keys to a healthy lifestyle is preparation. Don’t forget to stay present when eating, if you’re focusing on a million different things and not what you are eating, you could easily overeat or not actually feel satisfied.
With the warmer months now coming in, this is the perfect light breakfast to start your day on the right foot.
1/2 Cup Oats (you can decide how much you want, I just do half a cup)
Enough milk (of your choice) to cover the oats
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
Salt to taste
Honey to taste
Place all of your ingredients into a container or a jar.
Give it a shake, or mix around
Place in fridge overnight.
Now for the apple part. You can either cut some fresh apple into the oats before you eat them in the morning. Or you can do what I do.
I peel and core 1 apple and chop into bit sized blocks
Place apple blocks into a non stick pan and gently cook. I like to cook it enough just to get caramalized. I also add some cinnamon and nutmeg while it’s cooking.
I then top off with some Chia Seeds
If I’m in a rush place the apples into a microwave safe bowl and heat for two minutes. I put a small plate on top to keep the moisture in. So whilst my apples are cooking, I get my foundation on and that kills two birds with one stone.
I kid you not, its that damn easy to do! Can you see why I love it. I know my body is getting the nutrition that it needs to get me through the day.
